Boost Energy, as a dedicated prepayment energy supplier, offers a more streamlined selection of tariffs compared to other providers. Currently, Boost provides two standard variable tariffs: Smart PAYG+ and Traditional PAYG.
These tariffs are subject to change, as their prices can rise or fall in line with the prepayment energy price cap, which is reviewed and adjusted four times a year. This ensures that Boost’s pricing remains competitive while offering flexibility to its customers.
Boost Energy currently scores an average of 4.2 out of 5 on Trust Pilot.
Whilst they do not respond to positive reviews, they do take the time to respond to their poor reviews.
Like all energy suppliers, Boost Energy sources electricity from a variety of primary fuels, including natural gas, nuclear, coal, and renewable sources such as wind, solar, and hydro. Boost purchases electricity from energy generators who produce it using these different fuels. The mix of fuels used by the generators determines Boost’s fuel mix.
For the period April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, Boost’s fuel mix was as follows:
Fuel | Electricity supplied by Boost | Average for GB |
---|---|---|
Coal | 13% | 3.4% |
Natural Gas | 61% | 39.3% |
Nuclear | 9% | 13.9% |
Renewable | 11% | 40.8% |
Other | 6% | 2.6% |
Total | 100% | 100% |
CO2 emissions (g/kWh) | 417 | 199 |
